A Clinical and Statistical Analysis of the Facial Bone Fractures


Abstract
This retrospective study comprised 120 patients with facial bone fracture except nasal bone fracture, who were treated in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Dong-A University Hospital from June 1991 to June 1995.
@ES The following results were obtained
@EN 1) The monthly incidence showed the highest prevalency in June(15%), and the lowest in December(2.5%). The annual incidence was shown to be increasing.
2) The most prevalent age group was 20's(44.2%).
3) A total of 165 classified facial bone fractures except nasal bone fractures were diagnosed in the 120 patients.
4) The most common site was zygoma(41.2%), followed by mandible(30.3%), orbital bone (17.5%), and maxilla(7.8%).
5) The most common cause was motor vehicle accidents(35.7%), followed by fall(33.9%),
6) and violence(17.5%).
7) Open reduction was used for 81.2% of total cases.
